Tbilisi State Medical University
It is a leading medical university in Tbilisi, Georgia. More than 85 years have passed since Tbilisi State Medical Institute was founded on the basis of the faculty of Medicine at Tbilisi State University (TSU). In 1992 Tbilisi State Medical Institute was renamed Medical University. On June 10, 1930, Tbilisi University was reorganized and founded by the Tbilisi State Medical Institute, which became the new strongest incentive for higher medical education and medical science development in Georgia. During its establishment, the Institute had three faculties: medicinal-prophylactic (dental department), sanitary-prophylactic and pharmacologic-chemical. The medical faculty has established at the time of almost 100-year history of the medical institute and has been established at various times: Pediatric (1931), Dental (since 1936), military-medicine (since 1993), medical-biological (since 1994), psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy (since 1996). Currently, there are five faculties in the medical university: medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public health, physical medicine, and rehabilitation.
