One of the leading higher medical education institutions in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Semipalatinsk Medical University, AKA Semey State Medical University, has branches in Pavlodar and Ust-Kamenogorsk in addition to its own university hospital. The Faculty of Medicine at the Semey University of Medicine was established on September 1, 1953, and the first 320 students were admitted. A degree authorizing the opening of the university was issued by the Soviet Union’s Cabinet of Ministers in 1952. Graduates from higher education institutions are successfully employed throughout Kazakhstan and in nearby and faraway countries during their service years.
