Established in 1865, Cornell University is a private and statutory Ivy League research university in the USA. Cornell has emerged as a technologically innovative institution that applies its research to its campus and public relations. For example, in 1883 it was one of the first college campuses to use electricity from a water dynamo to light the site. The university is affiliated with the Association of American Universities (AAU), the State University of New York and the Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities (APLU).
